Christopher Rootham
Board member
Christopher Rootham joins the Board with over twenty years' experience in public sector employment and labour relations. Prior to joining the Board, Mr. Rootham was a lawyer in private practice since 2002, ending up as a partner at a leading law firm in Ottawa. He represented unions, individual employees, and other institutions in a variety of matters touching on labour, employment, administrative, privacy, and constitutional law as well as general litigation.
Mr. Rootham taught Advanced Labour Law at Queen's University (2008), Employment Law at the University of Ottawa (2008-2022). He also taught Public Service Labour & Employment Law in the Osgoode Professional LLM program (2014-2023) and again at the University of Ottawa (2014). He is the author of Labour and Employment Law in the Federal Public Service, as well as book chapters in the Handbook of Canadian Public Administration, 3rd ed. and The Law of Work: Complete Edition (1st and 2nd eds) and a number of articles in the Canadian Labour & Employment Law Journal and other journals on labour law, employment law, and human rights law.
He holds an LL.B. from Queen's University (1999) and an LL.M. (specialization in labour law) from the London School of Economics (2001).
