Board Member

Prior to being appointed to the Federal Public Sector Labour Relations Employment Board, Mr. Orfald played progressively senior staff management roles with the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) over a period of 20 years. As Senior Research Officer and Director of its Collective Bargaining Branch, he represented the PSAC in collective bargaining, conciliation and arbitration processes. He has worked closely with employer and other union representatives in a wide variety of high profile union-management committees. During his final five years at PSAC, he was responsible for special projects aimed at improving the effectiveness of the union’s grievance representation work.

Mr. Orfald holds a Master of Arts (Political Economy) from Carleton University and a Bachelor of Arts (Environmental and Resource Studies, Comparative Development Studies) from Trent University.
