Patricia Harewood
Board Member
Ms. Harewood holds degrees in civil law (LL.L cum laude) and common law (LL.B.) from the University of Ottawa, where she studied in French, graduating from the National Program at the Faculty of Law in 2005. She also has a B.A. in Geography with a minor in International Development from McGill University.
Ms. Harewood began her legal career in the Legal Excellence program at the Department of Justice. Prior to being appointed to the Board in March 2023, Ms. Harewood spent over a decade in a variety of roles at the largest union in the federal public sector, including as a bilingual Grievance and Adjudication Officer, in-house counsel, Acting Director of Representation and Legal Services, and Coordinator of Oppression Prevention. She also served as a senior advisor on equity to management, union leaders and the National President.
Ms. Harewood brings extensive experience in human rights, labour law, negotiations and dispute resolution, having litigated and settled numerous cases before various administrative and labour boards, in the public and private sectors across Canada.
Ms. Harewood is fluent in French and English; she can also read Spanish and Italian. She is a member in good standing of the Barreau du Québec.
