Respectful Communications and Behaviour – Standard of Conduct
Purpose
This document sets out clear guidelines for safe, respectful and courteous communications. Its goal is to support effective dispute resolution and create a productive environment for everyone involved in our processes.

Fundamental Principles
- Respect
- Treat everyone respectfully in all interaction - spoken, written, or in person. Do not use offensive language, make personal attacks, or engage in inflammatory or discriminatory behavior.
- Courtesy
- Be polite in all Board communications. Respect other’s privacy and dignity.
- Collaboration
- Participate in the Board’s processes in a constructive way. Manage disagreements professionally and without hostility.
- Compliance
- Follow all applicable policies and procedures.
Unacceptable Behaviour
A person’s behaviour is unacceptable when it is disrespectful. Examples of unacceptable behaviour include:
- Making threats or engaging in harassment
- Using offensive, demeaning, discriminatory or hateful language, including personal insults
- Making excessive, unreasonable or aggressive demands, requests or inquiries
- Sending a quantity of communications to the Board that rises to the level of harassment
- Attempting to enter Board offices that are closed to the public
Services and Communications Restrictions as a result of unacceptable behaviour
Unacceptable behaviour will not be tolerated. We may limit or restrict services and communications if someone engages in unacceptable behaviour repeatedly.
